In discussions about the fading role of the corporate hierarchy (just ask the emerging generations what they think of command & control leaders … don’t expect a positive response!), a delegate shared tennis player Stefan Edberg’s philosophy in life: “Everybody’s important, and nobody’s very important.” Even when ranked World #1, including winning Wimbledon twice (1988 & 1990), Edberg never saw himself above anyone. Unsurprisingly he was immensely popular right across the Tennis community, and continues to be admired as a true & honourable sportsman. His philosophy offers a great lesson in leadership too!
