Humans are Underrated – Man vs Machine

Historically fears of being made redundant by a machine was believed primarily to be the concern of low-skilled labour workers. As Ai technology progresses at an ever increasing rate, so does the number of employees and industries potentially impacted by this issue.

The book ‘Humans are Underrated’, suggested to me by one such concerned employee sheds light on the increasing recognition of the value in our deepest nature; our ‘right-brain’ skills. In fact, consulting firm Towers Watson found that in the next five to ten years employers anticipate looking decreasingly towards ‘hard skills’, for example business acumen and analytical skills or P&L management. Instead their top priorities include relationship building, teaming, co-creativity, brainstorming, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work with and manage diverse employees. The common theme it seems is our unique ability to empathise … there’s hope for us yet!
