Leadership – Take a Step Sideways

Leadership is about ‘doing the right thing’, and it takes courage to do that especially when you’re under pressure. Most often it’s simply about acting with integrity with all small things in life; showing kindness and consideration to those we meet, brushing aside a colleague’s honest mistake, stopping to help when it feels easier to keep walking etc… But we should remember the actor Gene Hackman’s words: “The difference between a hero and a coward is one step sideways" … that’s all it takes to determine which side of the fence you fall!

So it’s about ‘walking the walk’, and we love Spike Milligan’s humorous quip: "I'm a hero with coward's legs." We can talk a good game if we like, but we get judged on what we do. Go on, one more quote to finish the point: ‘Well done’ is always better than ‘Well said’!
