Optimism is in the air, as we begin to see glimmers of normality appearing. For most of us, that centres on being together with family and friends again. We talk a lot in our leadership conversations about ‘charisma’, that unmistakable quality that comes from a person’s warmth and enthusiasm. We are innately drawn to such people, and it’s easy to see how it applies to leadership. The word ‘charisma’ derives from the Greek word Kerasma, meaning ‘favour freely given’, which implies kindness and generosity. In modern Greek society, the word applies to acts of generosity, such as someone paying the bill or offering a drink, and it shows ‘they want the pleasure of your company’. After a year of lockdown, I think we all crave the pleasure of people’s company, and it’s on the horizon now! So, here’s to a ‘kerasmatic’ future together. |

We’re big believers that every day is a school day and so we continually learn from what we do, and a big part of that is what our participants share with us. So this section is our way of recognising and passing on the ideas we encounter. We’ll always keep it brief and informal, and we hope you’ll enjoy picking up on some of the Good Points our delegates make.
