Staff Engagement… Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face!

We’re lucky to work with a cool engineering firm; yes, that’s right, they’re ‘cool’. We’ve been working with them to support their commitment to ensuring that they’re a great place to work. They’d been chasing a new business prospect for years, and eventually enticed them to visit their production unit. The prospect managed to slip the attention of the Sales Director who was hosting his visit, and headed straight for one of the paint spraying team; “What’s it like working here?” he quizzed the member of the team. After hearing about the enthusiasm that people share there and the commitment everyone has to deliver a great product, the Sales Director arrived back to find the prospect with ‘his cheque book out’. And after only a few months they’ve become a substantial customer. So if anyone ever doubted the impact of engaged staff, then doubt no more!
PS: the MD had a funny angle on how such a carefully planned customer visit took such an unexpected (and thankfully positive) turn by quoting Mike Tyson: “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face”. Ouch, especially if it was by Mike Tyson!!
